Get Your Own OpenAI API Key

If you're looking to integrate OpenAI's powerful AI capabilities into your GI Platform, you’ll need an API key. This guide will walk you through the process of obtaining one.

Guide 1: Starting from a New OpenAI Account

1. Sign Up: Navigate to the OpenAI website https://platform.openai.com

   
   

2. Create an Account: Click the "Sign Up" button and follow the on-screen instructions. You'll need to provide your email address, choose a password, and potentially verify your email. Or using your existing Social Account Login.

   
   

3. Start Building: Click the "Start Building" button and follow the on-screen instructions to create your organization.

   

   
   

4. Generate an API key: Click “Copy” and save the key somewhere secure and click "Continue" until you finish the process.

   

   
   

5. Top up the account at settings with some credit and use auto top-up if possible to avoid service disruption.

   

Guide 2: Creating an OpenAI API Key from existing account

1. Once logged in to OpenAI account at https://platform.openai.com, navigate to Dashboard and select API keys from the left sidebar.

   

   
   

2. In the pop-up to create a new secret key, create a name for the key, then click “Create secret key”.

   

   
   

3. An API key will be created. Click “Copy” and save the key somewhere secure.
